When you hire a manager to run your business, you give him the criteria. There are sets of rules for the manager to follow. You don’t let the the manager do whatever he feels like.
A country should be run the same way. Government works for the people. Government has to run its business according to rules set by the people. Therefore a constitution is important. But, a constitution is useless when the people don’t understand it.
We don’t need leaders as a country. We need managers and we tell them what to do. It is not the other way around.
If we let them do whatever they feel like, we end up having good time as well as terrible time. History proves it.
Constitution has to be taught to every citizen so that they can keep their eyes on the government. Every citizen should be required by law to learn about the constitution. A constitution is a set of rules to preserve the ideals these citizens are there in the first place. A country is born to ideals of a group of people. Every country has its own constitution. People can choose to go where it fits their ideals.
United States has the best constitution ever written in human history. Their citizens were above the government. Their government’s role was limited. Citizens’ freedom was preserved by the constitution. Their country prospered and its success was envied. Many countries copied the US constitution, but few understand it.
The idea of having some superhuman to tell others what is best for them ruined the constitution therefore the original ideal. These leaders ignored the constitution. Freedom is eroded in such situation. People were exchanging their freedom for certainties. Yes, once in a while there were ‘good’ leaders. But quite often, a tyrant leader would show up and bring havoc to the country.
Yes, we do need leaders. But these leaders belong to the entrepreneur category. These leaders invent products; renovate ideas to improve living standard choices. But they should never tell us what to do with our lives. They offer choices but the people decide for themselves.
Anything a government can do. The people can do it better.
